That is the entire market. GigSky, Ubigi and Jetpac sell nothing in the Maldives. Nomad, which we cannot link, has the fullest ladder but prices it high: $55 for 10GB.
For context, $56.93 buys 10GB here and $11.50 buys the same 10GB in Sri Lanka, two hours away by plane. Small island markets with one wholesale network price like it.
Dhiraagu, and only Dhiraagu no network choice to make
Every travel eSIM sold for the Maldives roams onto Dhiraagu, the incumbent operator. Ooredoo Maldives exists and is the second network locally, but no travel provider in our comparison is permitted on it.
That simplifies the decision to price alone, and it means coverage is identical whichever brand you buy. Dhiraagu covers Malé, Hulhumalé, the airport and the inhabited islands well, and reaches most resort atolls. On the water between them, expect gaps: the seaplane and the speedboat transfer are offline time on any plan.

The Maldives is the one destination on this site where the accommodation genuinely solves the connectivity problem.
Resorts and guesthouses include wifi as standard, most of it good enough for video calls, and you will spend nearly all of your time inside it. Mobile data covers the gaps: the arrivals hall at Velana, the transfer, a day trip to a local island, and the ferry timetable you need to check from a jetty.
That is 1 to 2GB for a week, not 10. Buying a 20GB plan for a resort holiday is the single most common way to overspend here, and this page would earn more from you if it did not say that.

Assumes you use the wifi you are already paying for. If your resort charges for wifi, which a few still do, the arithmetic flips and the 20GB plan becomes reasonable.

Yesim at $9.18 for 1GB or $20.91 for 3GB, which is all most resort trips need. Airalo at $40 for 20GB if you are working from here. Every provider rides the same network, Dhiraagu, so this is a price decision rather than a coverage one. Checked August 2026.
Do regional Asia eSIMs work in the Maldives?
No. Not one of the seven regional plans in our comparison includes the Maldives, and three of those providers sell nothing here at all. Whatever you bought for the rest of your Asia trip, the Maldives needs its own plan.
Do I even need an eSIM in the Maldives?
Barely. Resort and guesthouse wifi is included and generally good, so mobile data only covers the airport, the transfer and day trips. One gigabyte is enough for most week-long resort stays.
Will my eSIM work on the seaplane or the speedboat transfer?
No, and neither will anything else. Coverage on open water between atolls is patchy to absent on Dhiraagu, the only network sold here. Download what you need before you leave Malé.
Is a local Dhiraagu SIM cheaper?
Yes. Dhiraagu and Ooredoo both sell tourist SIMs at Velana airport with far more data per dollar than any travel eSIM here. For a longer stay or a guesthouse trip, it is the better buy; for a week at a resort where you will barely use data, the eSIM saves you the counter.
